Conditions we help with

ADHD, and what comes with it

We look at ADHD as a whole-person condition, and at the sleep, mood and body factors that travel with it. We work alongside your GP and psychiatrist, never instead of them.

ADHD

How ADHD shows up

ADHD affects attention, activity and impulse control, but it also shapes emotions, time, motivation and sleep. It looks different in everyone.

Inattentive ADHD

Difficulty sustaining attention, organising and following through. Often missed, especially in girls and women, because it is quieter.

Common signs

  • Drifting off in conversations
  • Losing things and forgetting tasks
  • Starting lots, finishing little
  • Feeling overwhelmed by organisation

Hyperactive & impulsive ADHD

Restlessness and acting before thinking. In adults, hyperactivity often becomes an inner restlessness rather than running around.

Common signs

  • Fidgeting and restlessness
  • Interrupting or blurting out
  • Impulsive decisions or spending
  • Needing constant stimulation

Executive dysfunction

The brain's management system: planning, starting, switching and finishing tasks, and holding information in mind.

Common signs

  • Time blindness
  • Procrastination and paralysis
  • Working memory slips
  • Trouble switching between tasks

ADHD across life

ADHD at different ages and stages

ADHD often goes unrecognised until life gets busier, and it can change with hormones and stress.

Adults with ADHD

Many adults were never assessed as children. Strategies that worked at school stop working with jobs, families and bills.

Common signs

  • Struggling at work despite ability
  • Burnout from masking
  • Relationship strain
  • Feeling "lazy" when you are not

Women & ADHD

Women are often diagnosed later, and symptoms can worsen with hormonal changes around periods, pregnancy and perimenopause.

Common signs

  • Anxiety or low mood first noticed
  • Symptoms changing with your cycle
  • Masking and exhaustion
  • Perimenopause brain fog

Waiting for assessment

With long NHS waits, many people live with suspected ADHD for years. We can't replace a formal assessment, but we can help you understand and support your brain while you wait.

Common signs

  • Suspected ADHD, no diagnosis yet
  • On a long waiting list
  • Wanting practical support now
  • Wanting to understand contributing factors

Overlapping conditions

What often comes with ADHD

ADHD rarely travels alone. Supporting sleep, mood and the body can make ADHD traits much easier to manage.

Sleep problems

Around 60% of adults with ADHD screen positive for a sleep disorder, most often a delayed body clock or insomnia.

Common signs

  • Can't switch off at night
  • Late sleep, hard mornings
  • Unrefreshing sleep
  • Daytime sleepiness

Anxiety & low mood

Anxiety and depression are common alongside ADHD, and can be both a result of struggling and a separate condition.

Common signs

  • Constant worry
  • Low mood and low self-esteem
  • Rejection sensitivity
  • Emotional overwhelm

ADHD and autism often occur together and share some traits. Our sister clinic, Neurogenics Autism Clinic, supports autistic people and families.

Common signs

  • Sensory sensitivities
  • Social differences
  • Need for routine alongside novelty-seeking
