Lessons from the body mind brain connection
Looking Beyond The Brain: ADHD Is Not An Isolated Brain Problem. It Is A Whole Body Problem.
The body–mind–brain connection is a pictorial representation of how the health of the body influences the health of the mind and brain, and how the health of the brain literally determines mental health.
Think of ADHD as a constant feedback loop between your brain, your mind, and your body. It starts in the brain with a shortage of dopamine, which acts like oil for your focus and braking systems. Without enough of it, your mind feels overwhelmed, easily distracted, and stuck in overdrive. This mental friction immediately spills over into your body, triggering physical restlessness, poor sleep, and a stressed nervous system.
The catch is that it works in reverse, too: a physically exhausted, tense, or poorly nourished body makes the brain glitch even more. Ultimately, ADHD isn’t just a focus problem in your head — it’s a full-system loop where mental stress exhausts the body, and physical tension shatters your mental focus.
In our body, mind, brain connection podcasts we will discuss topics such as how gut disorders influence brain health and ADHD, how hormonal imbalances can contribute to ADHD and the problem with inflammation.
